Hydrating coconut water iced coffee.
There are days when you want coffee… but you also want something refreshing.
Something that wakes you up without leaving you feeling jittery or dehydrated.
This iced coffee started as a little kitchen experiment one afternoon when I wanted something lighter than my usual latte. I added a splash of coconut water, a little non-dairy milk for creaminess, and a pinch of salt to round everything out.
The result was surprisingly good.
The coconut water adds subtle natural sweetness and electrolytes. The espresso gives you that familiar coffee kick. And the salt ties everything together, smoothing the flavor in a way that makes the drink taste fuller and more balanced.
It’s simple, refreshing, and one of those drinks that feels good in your body.
A Better-for-You Coffee Ritual
Traditional iced coffees can sometimes feel a little heavy, especially when they’re loaded with syrups or sugary creamers.
This version keeps things simple and supportive.
- Coconut water adds natural electrolytes and gentle sweetness.
- Non-dairy milk provides creaminess without heaviness.
- Espresso delivers clean caffeine for focus and energy.
- A pinch of sea salt enhances flavor while helping support hydration.
Instead of a sugar spike and crash, you get a lighter coffee that still satisfies.
It’s the kind of drink that works beautifully in the morning or as a mid-afternoon reset.
What Makes This Iced Coffee Different?
The unexpected ingredient here is coconut water.
It softens the bitterness of espresso while adding subtle sweetness and electrolytes. When combined with creamy non-dairy milk, the drink becomes smooth and refreshing rather than sharp or overly acidic.
The pinch of salt might sound unusual, but it’s a small technique used in both coffee and baking. Salt reduces bitterness and enhances the natural flavors of the drink.
It’s a tiny addition that makes a big difference.
Ingredient Notes & Easy Swaps
