Traveling? Here are the essentials I am taking to keep myself and my loved ones protected and feeling our best.

This holiday season, many of us are finally getting the chance to travel and visit friends, family, and loved ones.

And while traveling during this time of year already has its health risks like the flu,  This year we also have the pandemic as well.

So how can we support our immunity and our overall wellbeing while traveling this holiday season?  Here are the essentials I would recommend!  (I've linked all the supplements for easy reference!)

IMMUNE SUPPORT

Good quality Vitamin C

Not only essential for your immune system but also to support your adrenals (stress response). I don't know about you, but I'm feeling super stressed & anxious about traveling! If your body is coping with stress your immune takes a back seat.

Zinc

no more than 30mg.  Zinc is found in cells throughout the body. It helps the immune system fight off invading bacteria and viruses.

Vitamin D3 + K

I always prefer a liquid over a capsule. You can take it sublingually so it bypasses digestion and you get better absorption.

Oil of Oregano tablets

Oregano is a powerful anti-viral and anti-bacterial. So if & when I feel like I am coming down with something (especially a sore throat which I am prone to), Oregano is part of my first call to action.

Propolis Spray

This comes with me on the flight. It's hydrating for the throat supports the immune and is anti-viral and anti-bacterial.

Probiotics

Supporting the gut, supports the immune. Over 70% of your immune is housed in the gut so taking care of your digestion and gut health is key! I'm carrying with me a set of tonics for Akesi wellness but if you prefer a supplement, these are a good one!

DIGESTION

Digestive Enzymes

I'm a foodie and when I am traveling I want to enjoy all the things without my digestion suffering. So this is my insurance policy when I indulge mindfully.  I'm gonna remind you again – Your digestion is directly related to your immunity, so we want to keep it working well!

Activated Charcoal

This binds to toxins and helps you eliminate them from your system. Works well if you come down with food poisoning, or maybe went a little overboard with the champagne on new years eve.

FOR THE KIDS

Multi-Vitamin

A good multi-vitamin that has enough C, D & Zinc.

Probiotics

Again, supporting the gut supports the immune.

Elderberry syrup

Wonderful for supporting the immune system.  Adults can take this too!

ON THE FLIGHT

Essential Oils

I love using essential oils.  I put them on my mask and the soles of my feet. I use the Doterra dōTERRA on guard blend which has essential oils such as clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, and eucalyptus.  I also carry peppermint.  great for headaches, upset tummies,  and freshening breath.

Propolis Spray

Spray propolis into your mouth a couple of times during the flight. helps keep the throat hydrated and fights pathogens

Other Tips

  • Swap your mask every few hours.
  • Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water.  I ensure my electrolyte levels are up by adding LMNT to my water.  It also tastes amazing!
  • Eat fresh food and try and stay away from refined sugars and flour.
  • Try to relax!  If you are stressed, your immune system takes a back seat.
